Frequently asked questions

We now have an FAQ list that we hope will help you answer some of the more common ones.

Do SaaSJet apps require a separate FedRAMP authorization to be installed in AGC?

No. SaaSJet apps operate within Atlassian’s existing FedRAMP Moderate ATO boundary. Your agency does not need to initiate a separate authorization process, the apps inherit the compliance posture of the Atlassian Government Cloud environment they run in.

Can non-U.S. citizens or contractors access SaaSJet apps in the AGC environment?

No. Access to Atlassian Government Cloud instances is restricted to U.S. persons in accordance with federal security requirements

How does SaaSJet handle data encryption for government users?

All data processed by SaaSJet apps in Atlassian Government Cloud is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL and encrypted at rest using Atlassian’s government-grade infrastructure controls. Because the apps are built on Atlassian Forge and follow the Runs on Atlassian (RoA) model, encryption is managed at the platform level, consistent with NIST SP 800-53 controls and Atlassian’s FedRAMP Moderate authorization.

Can SaaSJet apps be used by defense contractors operating under CMMC or DFARS requirements?

Yes. SaaSJet apps are well-suited for defense contractors who need to maintain audit-ready Jira workflows. Issue History provides tamper-evident change logs required for CMMC audit trails, Time in Status supports delivery timeline reporting, and Smart Forms standardizes intake for compliance-sensitive request types. While SaaSJet apps inherit the security posture of the AGC environment, contractors should confirm alignment with their specific CMMC level requirements with their compliance officer.

What is the difference between SaaSJet apps on Atlassian Cloud and SaaSJet apps in Atlassian Government Cloud?

The key difference is the infrastructure: AGC instances run within Atlassian’s FedRAMP Moderate-authorized boundary, with U.S.-only data residency, restricted access to U.S. persons, and additional compliance controls required for federal use.

Does SaaSJet store app data outside the AGC boundary?

No data is stored or processed outside the AGC environment, there are no external API calls, and all data remains within Atlassian’s U.S.-based government cloud infrastructure.
