💡Use Case: Estimating the cost of marketing activities in Jira

Marketing encompasses various aspects and components but requires a structured approach for efficient operation. Managing the workspace and optimizing resources is always essential. With an abundance of tools like spreadsheets, Jira boards, CRM systems, email marketing platforms and social networks, it becomes challenging to analyze and make sense of all the data without proper visualization and organization.

Looker Studio is a valuable tool for aggregate analytics and data visualization. Our team utilizes custom Jira fields to input the marketing activity type and its context for each month. By leveraging Looker Studio’s dashboards, we can analyze which activities consume the most time and identify the most effective ones. This helps us gain valuable insights and make informed decisions in our marketing efforts.

Of course, for each of these activities, each marketer has a pool of tasks in Jira. Using Cost Tracker, we can derive the cost of these tasks. Afterward, we monitor the relationship between the most impactful traffic channels, their proportion in the overall landscape, the associated costs, and the feasibility of investing in specific activities. This analysis enables us to make informed decisions about resource allocation and optimize our marketing strategies accordingly.

Note that for a clear understanding of the cost of activities in cost reports, it is necessary for all marketers working in a team to set hourly rates in the Cost Tracker app.

And what is marketing without advertising? We track the costs of advertising activities using the Expenses tab in Cost Tracker.

Choosing the recurring setting when configuring the rates for specific advertising channels is recommended to streamline the process. By doing so, you can enter the required time ranges for repetitions, ensuring that the costs of these channels are accurately represented month after month. This approach helps maintain consistency and facilitates efficient cost tracking across various periods.

Cost reports are not available to all users. Only those who have been granted this option when setting up the application. But the report-sharing feature is available for other Jira users. To do this, click the lock icon in the Action column and select those with whom you want to share the report.
